Instructor: Gwen Rosencrans
Date: Thursday, March 5th and 12th from 5:30-7:00 PM
Level: Confident Beginner
Students must have completed Crochet 101 or be comfortable with the following stitches: slip knot, chain (ch), yarn over (yo), and slip stitch (sl st)
Amigurumi (ah-mee-goo-ROO-mee) is the Japanese art of creating stuffed cute yarn creatures or objects using crochet or knitting. They are a perfect, joyful gift for loved ones and littles. This project is great for someone who has taken a Crochet 101 class, is able to chain and single crochet, and would like to learn to produce fairly quick, fun three-dimensional projects.
In this class, you will learn how to crochet in the round using Magic Ring, increase and decrease your stitches, and incorporate sewing into your crochet projects. We will make an amigurumi dinosaur over the course of the class, but you can use these skills to crochet hats, baskets, and other projects made in the round!
Materials
- Worsted yarn in two colors. One color is for adding detail and can be scrap/does not need to be a whole skein. Cotton is recommended, but you can try any material. We suggest Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Worsted.
- 4mm crochet hook (bring a few near sizes in case it suits your yarn better).
- Darning needle.
- Stuffing such as polyfill (yarn scraps are also an option).
- Scissors.
- Safety eyes or embroidery thread for the eyes.
- Project pattern, available on Ravelry.
**Please bring your own stuffing and safety eyes to class!
