Our KAL (knitalong) is free to participate in. The KAL isn’t a formal class, and you don’t have to attend every session. Drop in and out as you like. Come to each session with your materials and be surrounded by others making the same pattern!

During the sessions, Jamie will be on hand to demonstrate techniques and answer questions you have about your pattern.

To join in, sign up using the form below and come to the shop prior to the start date to pick out your yarn and any notions you don’t already have. Amy and Isabel will be in the shop to help you pick your correct size and yarn.

We will meet at Knit B’ham four times for the knitalong around the big table in the hand dyed yarn room from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Wednesdays in October. Attend one, some, or all dates!

Absolutely. This pattern involves very simple colorwork and is appropriate for someone who has never done colorwork before. You need to feel comfortable knitting and purling prior to time, but if you’re trying something new, the best way to learn a new skill is just to dive in.

We encourage you to stretch yourself, keeping in mind that Jamie may be working with many folks during the KAL. She will happily help you through new skills or unfamiliar techniques (within reason) and our staff is available for questions. Come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

Cedar Point is a top down, A-line sweater pattern with a circular yoke featuring a funnel neck and very simple colorwork. It calls for bracelet length sleeves and generous ease through the body.

Espace Tricot recommends holding a sport weight and a lace double to create a worsted weight with a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches.

If you would like to hold double, Jamie recommends holding Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light with a strand of Knitting for Olive Mohair.

You could also experiment with holding a fingering weight with a strand of suri alpaca (but not mohair- suri provides more thickness).

If holding single, Jamie recommends Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino or Juniper Moon Farms Cotton + Merino.

For Color A: 330 (330, 573, 573) yds

Needles Needed

• US 8 - 5.0 mm circular needle in 16”, 24”, and 40”

• US 9 - 5.5 mm circular needle in 24” for the yoke colorwork (or needle one size larger than what you hit gauage with)

Notions Needed

• Stitch marker to indicate beginning of round

• Tapestry needle to weave in ends

This sweater is knit top down and is intended to be worn with significant ease through the body; however, the yoke section is fitted and is meant to fit close to the chest and shoulders.

The designer recommends measuring around your upper bust, including the upper arms, when determining the best size to knit.
