$50.00

Date: May 9th , 1-3:00 pm,

Instructor: Tamara Oechslin

Level: Confident beginner (can knit, purl, bind on/off comfortably with any method)

Seams add structure and shape to your sweater’s fit. Learn how to master beautiful, hidden seams to add that perfect finishing touch to any project! In this class, students will learn how to seam along verticals, horizontals, horz-to-vert, and live stitches in their knitting.

We’ll practice on swatches (see homework notes), but please feel free to bring any of your knitted-but-needs-finishing items to share with the class!

Materials:

  • 4 each ~4”x4” swatches (see homework notes below)

  • 10 yards of worsted weight scrap yarn, bright color preferred

  • Needles from swatches (US #7 or 8)

  • Three US 7 or 8 needles (4.0-5.0mm) - a set of DPN’s works great too!

  • Tapestry needle (bent tip preferred)

Homework:

You will need four swatches to seam during the class, approximately 4”x4”. A worsted weight yarn in a pale, neutral color is best.

To make these swatches:

- Cast on 20 sts, using any cast on method. Work 28 rows in stockinette (14 repeats of knit RS rows, purl WS rows for a total of 28 rows).

- Bind off two of the swatches; leave the two other swatches with live stitches on barber cords or waste yarn.
