Instructor: Tamara Oechslin
Date: October 10th and 17th from 1-2:30 PM
Join Tamara in making an adorable and easy roll brim hat in this two-class series! This project is perfect for students who have finished Knit 101 and are looking for their next project.
You’ve learned to knit and are well on your way to beautiful items and gifts for loved ones. Take the stress out of your first project and sign up for a bit of guidance as you work through following a pattern and mastering your knitting. An easy first option could be a basic roll brim hat – only knits, no purls. Students will learn joining and knitting in the round, a very simple decrease and transitioning to double-pointed needles (aka DPNs).
During this class, Tamara will guide you through the basics of written pattern reading as you learn how to knit in the round, decrease your stitches to create the shape of your hat at the crown, use circular needles, DPNs (double point needles) and properly bind off your hat.
Week 1: Cable cast-on and getting started in the round
Week 2: More pattern reading, DPN’s and decreases
Materials:
Roll Brim Hat pattern is provided.
1 skein of Malabrigo Rasta (available for purchase at the shop)
US 15 circular needles with 16” cord
US 13 DPNs (double pointed needles)
Optional: fun poof or pom pom to top off your hat!
