Level: Beginner (know how to knit and purl, don’t have to be 100% confident!)
So you just learned the knit and purl stitch- what’s next? Build on your knowledge with Helen, and learn new techniques to make this classic striped hat. These hats make wonderful gifts, and are a fabulous vehicle to become a more confident knitter.
In this two session class, you will learn:
-How to knit 2×2 ribbing
-How to work in the round
-How to change colors in your knitting (and make stripes!)
-How to make simple decreases
-How to use DPNs (double pointed needles) to make those decreases
-How to read a simple pattern
We will be using the Striped Ribbed Beanie pattern designed by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas.
Materials:
2 skeins Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted (one in your main color, the other in your contrast stripe color). If you have a wool allergy, we are happy to help you find an alternative yarn!
US 3 (3.25mm) 16” circular needles
US 3 (3.25mm) DPNs (double pointed needles)
5 locking bulb markers (1 in a contrasting color)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
