Join Mattie to make the Chapter Shawl (designed by Lily Kate France), a fun and approachable project that allows you to play with color and learn mosaic colorwork! Mosaic colorwork uses slipped stitches to create a pattern from two contrasting colors. It is a meditative and satisfying knitting technique that you can find in a wide range of projects.
In this two class series, you will learn:
Mosaic colorwork knitting
Reading a basic chart
Picking up stitches
Color changing in your knitting
KFB (knit front/back) increases
Materials:
US 5 (3.75mm) needles with a 32” OR 40” cord
The Chapter Shawl pattern, purchased from Lily Kate France on Ravelry
This shawl is designed to use a minimum of two colors, with a total yardage of 667 - 678 yards (610 - 620 m). The designer used twelve mini skeins, but yours doesn’t have to use that many colors if it isn’t your style.
If you want to make a shawl with many colors like the one Lily Kate’s photos, we recommend Emma’s Practically Perfect Smalls in a variety of colors.
You can also use fingering weight scraps you may have in your stash from other projects!
